The Committee of Sleep
An expansive paper-based installation that powers its own OLED lighting from visitor movement — the more people move through it, the more it glows.
The Committee of Sleep is built on the principle of energy scavenging — capturing surplus energy from living organisms. The expansive installation, structured around paper-based forms, is equipped with OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes). Objects within the installation absorb energy released by the movement of visitors in the exhibition room and transmit it to the light diodes.
The lighting situation varies with the frequency and activity of visitors — the installation literally runs on the people inside it.
