Klangformen

A wall of shapes that plays sound when you touch it.

Klangformen (Sound Forms) is an interactive wall installation in which geometric shapes are transformed into musical instruments. Each shape is touch-sensitive; touching it triggers a corresponding sound — tone, rhythm, texture.

The electronics are built around capacitive sensing: no buttons, no screens, just the material surface responding to the presence of a hand. The sounds are generated in real time, so the wall is always slightly different depending on how you play it.

The piece was designed for a school environment, where it has been used both as a free-play instrument and in structured music lessons.
