Watt?

Pedal to power the light. A direct, physical exploration of energy and illumination.

Watt? (Watt?) is a light installation powered entirely by human pedalling. Visitors sit on a custom bicycle and pedal; the energy they generate is converted directly into light — no batteries, no grid connection.

The relationship between effort and illumination is deliberately honest: pedal harder and the light gets brighter; stop and it fades. The system makes visible something we usually keep invisible — where the energy for light actually comes from.

The title is a pun: "Watt" is a unit of electrical power, and "Watt?" (pronounced "Vat?") is Austrian dialect for "What?" — a question about the nature of the thing you're looking at.
